Although marketing gurus have latched onto the idea that anything classed as "anti-aging" will sell well, the effectiveness in most ranges is highly questionable.
You often see advertised on television or print–ads a wonderful glamorous "PhotoShop-ed" picture of a person embodying a truly “ageless” face – and the products often always promise to simply erase the years in a couple of minutes.
What we mean with time and effort - is that you will consciously have to spend time to clean your face properly, twice a day, moisturize it, and now and again do an exfoliation and maybe a boosting mask or serum treatment. We are not talking about obsessive behavior - but plain simple common sense, practiced on a daily basis.
The "well spent money" is one of the key factors to keep in mind. When buying a product, you must understand that by buying the product, you are supporting an entire company and the way they spend their money.
If they have a trillion dollar budget, and employ a multi-billion dollar "advert girl or man" – it must all be funded from their sales – and that is where the root of the problem lies.
Some however prefer to sell “hype” – such as claiming that their products contain “cell stem technology” or some DNA altering ingredients – which they do not contain, as containing them will classify them as a "drug" in all countries, and would then have to be licensed and sold on prescription as a drug.
But, should these colossal companies actually buy an anti-aging ingredient from the research firms – they unfortunately have to save costs to fund their trillion-dollar empires – and in order to do that, they reduce the amount of the active ingredients that could fight aging.
This however allows them to legally claim that their products contain “XYZ” but what they fail to tell you is that the amount included in the product is so low – that it will not have any positive effect on your skin – you call this “angel dusting”.
If you take our Dermaxime Rejuvenating Eye Cream as an example – if we had to use the same formula for determining a selling price for a multi-national company – the retail price would have to be over US$ 1,000 for 20 ml. The price we retail it (October 2010) is US$ 69.00.
This seems to be unreal, ridiculous and unbelievable, but believe it - it isn’t.
We work on a set mark-up and include all our active ingredients are added at the correct amount and percentage as set by the research laboratories.
When the laboratories – like Lipotec in Barcelona, Spain, develops a new ingredient, they do exhaustive clinical studies at academic institutions that can objectively rate the effectiveness and efficacy of an ingredient.
They also – when claiming these anti-aging properties, set down the percentage of how much of this ingredient must be included in a finished product, in order to obtain these results as was verified by the clinical trials.
When you include all the peptides and other active botanicals at the correct percentage as prescribed by the developing research laboratories, and you use a multi-national cosmetic company’s mark-up – your retail price gets to the ridiculous amount in excess of US$ 1, 000.
We use a variety of very hi-tech peptides and active botanicals and they are listed below.
We are proud of the fact that we are a very small specialized company that makes skin care products for people that are really serious about fighting the signs of aging, and to keep premature aging at bay.
We could never compete with multi-national companies as we do not have the budget or clout to do so – but on the other hand these large glamorous multi-nationals will never be able to produce such effective products as us, and still be able to sell it the item an affordable price.
It is however heartening that our overseas agents, selling our products in twelve (12) countries, can do so, at our suggested US Dollar retail price – therefore making it accessible to all people wanting to buy proper and effective anti-aging skin care products.
All the products that we manufacture for our anti-aging range as well as the acne problem skin range and Cellumend are therapeutic products – that simply means that they have a beneficial effect on the skin due to the fact that they actually perform an action – due to the fact that they are included at the correct percentages that work on the health and functioning of the skin.
The only non-therapeutic product in the Dermaxime range is Dermaxime Instant Eye Lift – which is a “smoke-and-mirror” product, which helps to temporarily make wrinkles and lines appear less prominent for about 8 hours. It must be mentioned that it works extremely well on neglected skin with lots of wrinkles and lines, and less dramatically on eyes with few wrinkles and lines.
Although the main focus is the anti-aging range of Dermaxime – we also developed an extremely effective anti-cellulite cream called Cellumend anti-cellulite cream – and judging from sales worldwide, people have realized that it is one of the few cellulite creams that actually work.
The Dermaxime Anti-Aging Capsules fall into the holistic approach that our South African director, Michael A Meyer, has on fighting aging on all fronts. This capsule also contains patented ingredients that have been clinically shown to help retard aging – unlike the second rate products so often offered as "anti-aging supplements".
Due to the fact that Michael’s best friend at school suffered from severe acne, and still has a problem with acne scarring, Michael was also very committed when the problem and acne skin care range was developed.
Unlike cheap harsh products, we do not use benzoyl peroxide, which burns and damages the skin, but employ a host of very interesting ingredients to not only fight pimples and acne, but also to look after the skin’s health in general and the comfort of the clients.
